I have four red-spotted newts and I absolutely LOVE them! My name is Avalon, I'm from northeast ohio, and I've had my lil guys for about six months now. I caught them from the wild, and they are perfectly adapted to captivity! Just wanted to talk to other people who share my love for newts and sals!:D

Welcome aboard! Sorry about your addiction. Good news is we have an excellent support group here... ;)

I'm originally from Erie, PA. My serious caudate addiction started there, so I understand what you are going through.

Don't forget to review the forum rules and have fun reading about how badly the rest of us are coping with our addictions.

:)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
