Morning all,

My 10 (almost 11) year old bought his Axolotls with his birthday money last November; when we went looking for fish, he spotted these and insisted they we're for him!

After some research at home we we're set to set them up and begin enjoying them, not sure of what we had boys, girls or one of each

This time last week we had the answer to that question will lots of eggs all over the tank

Depending on how many survive, how soon are they ready to be re-homed? I'd like to do this right and teach my son the responsibility of breeding correctly (even though this was a shock to us all)

Regards

CJ

Welcome, and congrats on the eggs! If you have any more questions, post in the axolotl area of the forum and you should get some good help.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
