I have two P.Waltl one has been sulking, lethargic and off its food. This has gone on for several days. I have separated them and given the enclosure a good cleaning.
The one I'm concerned about was placed on its own in a small tank with water just covering it. He has not eaten for about a week in total.
I can seen nothing wrong with him! I have just noticed that he is now shedding. Could this behavior be due to having a difficult shed?

Still no change in its diet, and I still can not see any physical differences in its appearance.
If I don't get any answers then I'll be going to the vets.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
