Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any reliable info on assisting axolotls in passing gravel? i suspect that my current axolotl has some stuck in her as she seems to float after feeding. i tried keeping her in the fridge for 4 days but it didn't seem to work. also she seems to expand her mouth strangely, almost as if theres gas building up inside of her. is that a sign of something else or does that come with the gravel issue?

Hey guys, wondering if anyone could assist me with this issue. My axolotl has been constantly floating after feeding. I've tried fridging it for a couple of days but it didn't seem to work. any other methods anyone would recommend? also it seems to expand its mouth strangely as well, almost as if there's gas building up inside her.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
