Well I am my 50 gallon tank is set up and ready for my babies! (new pics soon to come) I have 2 albino Axolotls and found a protein black axolotl. I want to put them in the same take and was wondering what color I would get if they bread? They are about the same size so I am not worried about them not getting along and will also have the protein in a separate take for the first few weeks. I don’t know that they are ready to breed but just wondering what will happen when, if they do.

So from my experience, the babies turn out to be about half and half. How old are the axolotls? I've heard that with females you want to make sure they are a year old before they breed so that their body can be done maturing before it has to take on the responsibility of developing eggs.

When you say "protein black" do you mean black melanoid? I don't think you mean protein.

Unless you know what the black axolotl's parents looked like, there is no way to know what the offspring would be. They'd either all be dark, or half would be white.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
