Hello,

Let me introduce myself. I am Martin, 30 years old and live in the Netherlands. At the moment I am working as IT/projectmanager at a software company.Last months I started again with this fantastic hobby. For years I kept newts, but in the years between I spent my time with keeping different bloodpythons and Lampropeltis species. I was always intrested in newts and now I picked it up this hobby again. At the moment I keep different Cynops and Triturus and hope to breed with some of them next year.

I hope to get great time here on this forum,
Greetz,
Martin

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to reading more about your newts.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
