My name is Amanda and I am so excited about this group! I have been a herp lover forever and I currently have three wonderful reptilian children ---Oasis and Tumbleweed (Bearded Dragons) and Tukey (Chinese Water Dragon). They have been in my family for 8 years. I recently saw a youtube video called the Axolotl Song and fell in love. Doing internet research on the little critter brought me to this website and I joined in hopes of learning alot about Axolotls so that I may one day make them part of my family too. I am looking forward to meeting other people who share my love for amphibians/reptiles and can't wait to find out more about the world of the caudata.

Peace, Love, Happiness

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
