Hey I'm getting a dozen axolotl eggs and I bought 50grams of bbs eggs, I was wondering if anyone had an estimate on how long this much will last them.
Thanks

I had some eggs in a 6 gram bottle and bought another just in case. I didn't even finish the first bottle and the axies are on beyond eating them now.

The process I used is:

I used a 20 ounce soda bottle with a constant stream of air running through it and set close enough to a 40 watt incandescent light bulb to keep the temperature above 80 F.

I mixed an eighth of a teaspoon of eggs in a liter of aged water with a tablespoon of non iodized salt. I set this up every other day and had more shrimps than I knew what to do with. I was feeding 18 larvae, btw. It was easy, in my opinion.

I fed the axies twice a day. Each of the axies was housed in its own container. The first container held about 200 mL of water and the next size up held about 1 liter (Glad storage container). This keeps the tiny larvae close to the even tinier nauplii (newly hatched shrimps)

I changed the water every couple of days to keep the water clean.

Since you've got so many eggs, keep them in the refrigerator and they'll last a long time.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
