Can I feed giant African land snail eggs to my axolotl? I have 3 adult land snails which means I tend to end up with a lot of eggs that are currently going in the freezer for a few days and then the bin. I am just curious as to whether they'd be ok to feed as a treat every once in a while? I am pretty sure he'd eat them (he eats everything :D) and it seems a shame to be throwing out something that would make a good food source. Thanks in advance for all reply s.

anybody know?

Are they soft or hard shelled? I would think they'd be a good source of protein. Do they sink in water? That might be an issue. I don't think that they would do any harm. BTW, how is it that you have these giant snails? They're illegal in the US as far as I know.

I am in England. They are very common pets over here (you can pick babies up for virtually nothing). I am not sure whether they sink or not, I'll experiment with some later. The shell is quite soft and comes away easily leaving a jelly like egg. They laid another batch this morning so I might try him with some see how they go down.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
