Hi everyone, My name is Jade I am new to this forum. I'm particularly interested in gaining as much information on keeping Axolotls as I can. I am hoping to get a beautiful leucistic baby after the new year. I have had an interest in axis for some time now but have only recently looked more seriously into getting one of my own. Hope to get some useful information from others on here so as to give my axi a great, spacious loving home.

Welcome to the forum, Jade. Have you read the Axolotl Site yet? It's a great place to start. Beyond that, this forum has a HUGE amount of information! Try to familiarize yourself with the search function in the upper right, above the login. It will help you greatly!

Hi, thank you for your help. I have been on the axolotl website quite a bit which is how I found this forum. Both have a lot of insight and knowledge which is great.

Welcome aboard! If you're looking for a leucistic baby axolotl, there are many people advertising their captive-bred caudates in the forum.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
