I found a store that sells tubs of earthworms. They are dated from when they arrive, so I picked a more recent batch as they were much smaller. I was previously getting the trout worms from Walmart, but at least half were always too big and I don't have the heart to cut them :/ So I thought these would be perfect...

Well my smaller guy eats them right up! The other larger two regurgitate them LIVE once or twice before they stay down. Is this any reason for concern? I'm thinking that the younger, smaller worms are more lively? Or maybe its that i usually offer more than one when before they really only needed one of the larger and that's contributing to it?

I don't know which is worse for the worm - getting cut in half or being eaten several times over, but Merlin(the smaller one) is definitely enjoying his worms more often!

My axolotl will sometimes spit it out too, then suck it right down again like spaghetti.

I think its more the worm putting up a fight than anything else, and I leave them whole as my lotl seems to be even more attracted to the movement of its dinner.

I have my own worm farm for my axolotl, so I always have a huge supply on hand.

If you feed them too much too soon, it usually comes back!

It could also be a taste thing maybe, do you soak them in water first?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
