I am interested in getting my axolotl a friend, but am worried about finding a compatable one! Any suggestions on how to go about this? Do you quarantine any new axolotl that you buy before introducing it to the tank? Are there any suggestions to finding ones that won't fight, as I have read that they can be aggressive towards eachother, and I'd rather be safe than sorry, and not give my little Rose a rough time.

Yes, you must quarantine first (30 days at least), and just make sure there are enough hides and the tank is large enough for the both of them.

As Eric says and make sure they are the same size aswell :) I have a hide per axie and I started with 2 and introduced a 3rd later and they were fine, good luck

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
