I have a small P.chinesis his names newton and hes only 4 inches in length and still young...I was wondering how big hes going to get, whats the best newt to house with him and is a 20gallon tank enough?

They get between 11-15 cm long. If your animal is pet-shop bought it´s very likely it´s already adult.
The only newts that can be housed with the one you have are others of the same species, and even then, aggression may appear between individuald. Some parings work, others don´t. Mixes with other species are definitely not a good idea, at all.
A 20 gallon is very nice. It should provide enough volume to make a good home.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
