Hello, my names ste and I have a tiger salamnader thats about 13-14 months olds. Since the day I got her she had a fantastic appetite but over the past two or three weeks her appetite is almost non-exist and she will only have one cricket every second day. Any ideas as to why this might have happened?

Have you tried other foods? Sometimes they seem to get 'bored' with the food offered. Try a big, juicy earthworm and see if that spurs her appetite.

Their appetite drops off during the winter months. As the previous post suggest try nightcrawlers, which are a better staple than crickets. It may take some conditioning to change from crickets to worms. They will maintin nicely on one half nightcrawlers twice a week on one whole once a week. Crickets can still be offered as a treat.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
