I just saw one of my axolotls yawn......it was kinda wierd. i am also thinking of getting vampire crabs. weird thing was, was i looked up vampire crabs people that were interested in them were also interested in axolotls haha. So is there anybody out there with vampire crabs?

the name sounded interesting so I googled them. If they're the kind I found from a quick google search they're basically terrestrial crabs. While they are freshwater, I don't think it would be a good mix. I couldn't actually tell how big they got from the pictures, but I didn't even look at their desired temperature, what they eat, ect. While they looked small their care requirements didn't seem to match, not to mention a crab might be potentially more dangerous to axolotl gills then shrimp

oh i dont plan on keeping them in the same tank, i only want to get a 1.5-2.5 gallon tank to keep them in.....but i cant find ne place that has good information about these crabs.

lol, my bad I thought you had meant had anyone kept them with axololts. I havn't heard of them before, but I've never been that much of a crab person

The first time I saw my axies yawn I thought I was going crazy, but I soon found out it's perfectly normal.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
