Hi!

My name is Veera and I'm from Finland. I'm 23-years old, and I have had my axolotl only 4 days now. I have dreamed about axolotl for so long, and now my wish came true.. <3 And I'm so happy to find this website! In Finland there is not so much information about these creatures, and I dont know anybody (yet) who has axolotls or is interested of them.

So, happy to be here, "see" ya all! :D

You're welcome!

I stayed just outside Kristinestad (such a beautiful town!) and travelled round quite a few places with my friend who I was staying with. She even managed to convince me to do the sauna/jump in the sea thing. It was brilliant, the friendliest place I've ever been! I didn't make it to your town though :(

I have three axolotls :) Chester, a leucistic, Roscoe, an albino, and Albi, a wild type. No doubt I'll end up with more, I have a new tank on it's way so I have to put something in the old one, right?

What about you, what type is your new buddy? Have you thought of a name?

Oh, and thanks for commenting on the axolotl pic, I'm working on something a little more ambitious at the moment, but work keeps getting in the way!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
