Hi
I've had my Axie Chicho for about 3 months now and have purchased a new bigger tank about 3 feet long. I am currently cycling it and the opportunity the get another axie has arised would it be ok to introduce them together once I have this new tank up and running?

You should quarantine any new animal for a month before adding it to the tank. But as far as I know, as long as the axolotls are about the same size they should get along. If one is significantly smaller though it might be eaten.

Ok, awesome I might wait until my new tank is cycled and place Chicho in that and quarantine my new one in the old tank would that be ok?

You don't necessarily have to wait until the new tank is fully cycled to put your guy in there as long as you are diligent about monitoring water quality and performing regular water changes. If you are worried about introducing them, you can use a tank divider initially so that they're able to see each other for awhile and see how it goes.

Hey just get some filter media from the 1st tank and stick it in the 2nd. It'll cycle much quicker

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
