I recently had an unexpected spawning. The mother was a wild type and all the eggs look dark. She's been moved out.

But I was wondering when I might be able to tell who the father(s) might be. I had a wild, albino and leusistic in there.

Within a few weeks, once they grow in their front legs, you should be able to tell fairly easily what colors they'll be. However, you may never know who the father is unless you know what they're also carriers for. You may be able to figure out what the mother is carrying, but if she isn't a carrier for anything, you will get all wildtype offspring.

Im not an expert but my eggs have just hatched (well 2 have hatched) and theyre 3 days old and i can only just make their colours out now... One is albino because it doesnt have dark eyes and the other is either wildtype or heavily marked leucistic beacause its dark and kinda spotty :)

Its very hard to see though so get your magnifying glass ready

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
