Found myself at a surgical museum this week (Hunterian Museum: Hunterian Museum; The Royal College of Surgeons of England), and while I walked around with a pretty disgusted face I took a few pictures that I thought some of you may find interesting. Unfortunately the pictures were taken on my phone, so have not come out very well, however I shall post them anyway (the poor quality may also help the contents of your stomach stay put).

Information provided:
3267: A female great-crested newt dissected to show the ovaries laden with mature ova.
3268: A female newt dissected to show the ovaries after the release of the ova.
3269: A young newt approaching adulthood.
3296: A female spotted salamander dissected to show the left side of the oviduct during pregnancy.
3297: A female spotted salamander with the ventral abdomen dissected to show the ovaries and impregnated oviducts in situ.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
