So, i recently add sand to my Axolotl tank and i let is sit for as long as the package said but i noticed these spider web looking things in there.I very quickly took my axolotls out because i didn't know what it was. Does anyone know? It looks just like i said spiderwebs but under water. They are white and the new sand is kind of sticking to it. I would like to know what it could be before i risk my Axolotls.

Thank you

A picture would probably really help :) I'm not really sure what it could be from your description thus far.

Sorry if they are too small but in the first picture you can kind of see it on the roots of the plant in the center of the picture. On the second one you can see it on the filter tube next to but behind the rock. Lastly you can see it hanging off the rock in the third picture. I'm not sure what it is but i'm wondering if maybe it has to do with algae or because my Axolotls laid some eggs about two weeks ago. I also just did a complete water change and substraight change before i noticed it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
