Have a lot of eggs that are starting to develop tails. Can any forum members especially OZ ones tell me what I can feed them when they hatch. Have tried to find Daphnie but with no luck is there anything else I can feed them, until they get bigger. Ozie.

Hi,
A good idea with young is baby brine shrimp.
you can buy dried embryos at most fish stores. all you have to do is hatch them, pretty easy, and then you have tiny little critter to feed your babies. I have found them to be very useful in terms of size and avalibility.
Good luck :D

I would also suggest baby brine shrimps. They're easy to breed.
What I do I have 2 hatcheries 'running' but with 12 hours between them so that my axies will have a constant supply of food :)

Thanks for the advice am trying to hatch brine shrimp , nothing happened with ther first lot, so trying again. The babies are moving in their eggs now so I rekon on a few more days and they will will be out.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
