Okay... they never really seem to poop... But when I've just cleaned the tank the next day I find a hellotta axie poo. Like they all planned to poop when the tank is cleaned.... Do your axies do the same? Is it because the 'fresh' water triggers them to poop? Or are they just annoying me?

Snakes do the same thing. Why poop in a dirty water bowl that mom's just about to clean when I can poop in this one that's all clean and new?

Haha, yep, my snake does the same :) (Not only in the water bowl... But if he has clean substrate he likes to dump a big bunch of poo on it... like he wants to say "well... NOW I feel VERY at home here!"

Home is where you feel most at ease taking a dump, I guess.

Morrison, only you would start this thread!
Yes, my axies do the same. They are very naughty for waiting until it is all clean!

The thing with the snakes is if I clean the water dish, they don't wait until the next day, or a few days later to poop in it. It's literally within minutes of putting in a fresh dish. Little jerks. lol.

It is the same with humans too - after the dishes have been done, kitchen cleaned, THEN people decide they want a snack.

I had to restrain myself from just 'liking' every post in this thread!

My boyfriend does the same after I've just cleaned the bathroom.

I live with two guys. Don't get me started on the bathroom. I haven't ascertained exactly who can't hit the GIANT hole in the middle of the toilet bowl, but I'm pretty sure it's not me.

Hey I think its due to the drop in water temperature, my two do exactly the same thing within an hour of cleaning them out there are two big poos in the tank and when I go to clean them out they sit over the top of them or bite the turkey baster thing. Very mischievous but you got to love them :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
