Axis Hatching

The Axis are starting to hatch 4 so far. I have baby brine ready so do you just suck them up in a straw a feed them. Also how often etc ? Thanks for any advice, cheers. ozie.

Awww congratulations.

To feed them with the baby brine shrimp you will need to strain the shrimp through a very fine net and then rinse them with some clean dechlorinated water. You need to get rid of as much salt as you can before you put them in with your babies. It's easiest to feed them in a smallish container so more shrimp move past them until they learn to hunt in a month or so.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
