I am a proud owner of two Japanese Fire-Bellied Newts. They currently seem very happy, however, one is missing a leg. Yes, he likely got in a fight at the pet store where they were keeping him with fire-bellied toads. So, I picked him and another Fire belly up and bought them. Now they currently swim around during the night, and sleep during the day, under the two large rocks I keep inside of the tank.

I simply wanted to know how often they feed and how often to clean out the tank. Thank you and Hello everyone!

Hello, i am also new here and also own 4 fire bellied newts:D i Love them, so much fun to watch swim around. i tend to feed mine once every four days, normally frozen bloodworms although also looking into earthworms aswell. hope this helps

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
