Is it safe to put my two Chinese firebellied newts together with my significantly larger Chinese warty newt? Or would that cause problems?

Not safe at all! It would imply many risks, the worst of them would be the agressive Paramesotriton tearing up the poor H.orientalis.
You have to consider that Paramesotriton are territorial and agressive and MUCH bigger. They could coexist together for a length of time with no apparent problems, then one day there would only be a suspiciously guilty looking fat newt. In addition to that, there are other problems like exchange of patogens, competition for food, stress (this is a big ones too)...

That mix is definitely a tragedy waiting to happen. You can find a lot of info in the CC articles and around the forums about mixing.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
