Hello,

I have a strong belief of keeping wild animals in the wild. The more I learn about the the hellbender the more I want to see a native species of my region flourish and grow. In hopes of learning about this ancient creature I have joined Caudata, as well as a general interest in amphibians for many years.

Nice to meet you.

P.S.: The axolotl, from what I have learned, seems to have a deteriorating habitat and I am glad to see so many people bringing them into their homes.

Welcome to the forum, enjoy the wealth of content on here! Hellbenders look amazing, I'd love to see one too :)

Thank you very much. I'll be hiking a portion of Appalachia this August and will post any lucky finds I manage to photograph (with a disposable camera).

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
