So just had my birthday and payday :) and guess who got the money spent on them?!?

I treated my wonderful little Axies to a new 'holiday home' hide and lots of new plants for their tank and thought I would share it with you all :)

Lucky things, looks really nice :D Although the sand looks a tad deep, might be an idea to remove some and keep it in a safe place unless you swirl it regularly :) Is that a java moss wall you're aiming for> I want one of those eventually with some cherry shrimp :D

I swirl it weekly when I do a water change :) don't want any of those toxic air bubbles but it needs to be deep enough to root the plants. Its not Java Moss can't remember what it was called but a Java moss wall does sound good :)

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
