Hello,
I am Shawn and I live in Madison Wisconsin. I am fairly new to keeping amphibians but am learning a lot as I go. I currently have an adult pair of African Clawed frogs, 3 Aquatic Caecilians, and am looking into getting axolotol's and Paddle tail newts in the future. I joined the forum to learn more about my Amphibians because I am finding there isn't enough public information about the care of some of them. I also have been having trouble finding a place to purchase axolotol's and thought this might be a great place to connect with someone and order them through here. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Welcome to the forum Shawn! I am fairly new here as well, but I have found the information here to be top notch. The articles and the posts that I have read are very well done and full of useful and accurate information. I really recommend taking a peak through Caudata Culture and the articles there. Fascinating reads!

Hope you are able to find what you are looking for. Axolotls are really neat.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
