Hi

I've been cycling my tank for the last month or so, the nitrites have been dropping every few days and it's near the end of the cycle, but i noticed something strange after i had done a test today. I didn't clean out the tube right away and then about 5 minutes later the water began to change again, this time to a light brown colour.

I normaly clean the tubes out after a couple of minutes so i never left it long enough to notice this before, is it normal?

it takes about 5 minutes for your test results to finish. So it's normal in the sense that you're supposed to wait 5 minutes anyways

the instructions with my test kit says 2 minutes, and isn't it suppose to be purple in colour? hmm

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
