I'm thinking of putting my 2 leucistics back in with my wild type but I still don't trust the fatty yet not to eat more of their limbs so I want to put up a tank divider and have 1.5ft for my wild type and 2.5ft for my 2 leucies until I'm happy to try them living together again.

I can't afford to buy one but I've noticed suction cups for dividers on ebay, firstly, are these reliable? I can see the axies, being the bright little critters they are, continually bashing into the divider and because it is attached with suction cups, managing to destroy it so to speak.

Secondly, what kind of material would be cheap and easy to get hold of and most importantly, axie safe, to make a divider with? I've heard perspex mentioned but wouldn't know where to get it from  There is someone on ebay selling a mesh divider. Surely this isn't safe?

Do you have this plastic canvas mesh available? It's used for crafts and such. I always thought this would make a great, durable, cheap divider.

You'll have to devise a method to securing it to the tank. Suction cups would be fine. Just make sure they're good quality.

Can't say I do but I guess a trip to the local market should get me some :p I'll try figure a good way to secure it if the suction cups don't work, thanks!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
