Not the best of subjects but can I ask, what do you guys do with unwanted eggs?

I have taken around 50 out as I want to try and hatch some, but the rest are still in my main tank. Should I leave them in there and let the parents eat them? Or should I put them with the ones I want to hatch and leave it so only the strong survive?

Or should I just destroy them some other way?

:/

You can cull them (not sure on the best way), you can leave them for the parents to eat, you could donate/sell some? Try posting in the for sale section, see if anyone is interested in some. I'd offer to take a few off your hands but with me going away in a couple of weeks I couldn't care for them when they initially hatch :(

I've just replied to your other thread (Star - I recommended you! LoL!)
As I said, I haven't had much luck with my previous eggs, but if all your thinking of doing is destroying them, I will be happy to pay P+P on as many as you want to send to me ;)
I personally wouldn't leave them with the others + hoping for survival of the fittest, as in my mind, even the fittest may get munched by the others.

I forgot to say in my previous post that i have some 3 inch babies wildtype, melanoid and exthantic (only two of them and im definetly keeping one) which i am growing on for a friend who had them in his pet store and couldnt cope, so i said i would get them to four inches and return most of them, you can have some if you want a colour that you havent got they are all in perfect condition.

I leave the eggs with the parents. Any that make it hatching are eaten as larvae. It's easy, and at least the eggs go to some worthy purpose (live food).

When I used to breed Betta's i'd have to cull them. When you have 300+ babies it's just not feasible.
Unlike Axie's the male Betta won't eat the eggs or babies... however the mother will eat both.

I contacted my local pet store as well (a mom & pop place), They were more then happy to take any fry I had.

And my local pet store now loves getting egg clutches or any kind. They eiether use them as food, or they hatch them out and sell them.
If I take the time to get them to a sellable size I get store credit for them.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
