2 of those one setup at each side would be groovy,

Go for either an tetratec aps 150 or 200, im going by that your tank is around 150 - 200L capacity, so go for the filter with the correct size, Just use a regulator/clamp to reduce the airflow and even out both of your filters and boom! your done :D

I suggest you go for the second option as it fixes to the side of the tank and therefore would be less likely for you axie to get stuck or want to investigate it!

probably two of them would be fine...

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
