Hey, I was wondering what is the best way to ship axolotls. I have a bunch I raised that are around four inches that I would like to advertise, but I do not know how to ship them. I know It can't be too hot or they will die, but thats about it. Also sorry if this has been posted before, I tried to find a post like this but no luck. Thanks

I think you will need styropor / polystyrene boxes, they are often used for amphibians. In summer you might want to put an ice pack in there too.
Recently we got an Axolotl from Germany and he came in a styrophor box, was in a double plastic bag, one filled with water and air (+ axolotl :p) and the other over that just to make sure.
The bag was fitted to the box so it would not roll or something like that. The axolotl was very relaxed when he came in and showed no signs of stress. Be sure to get a good animal courier, for the shipping.

Greetings,

Johan & Miranda

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
