Are gfp axolotls more prone to get sick or stressed out im just curious on weather or not should i get a gfp or a normal one

What's a GFP axolotl opposed to a normal axolotl? I'm new to all this, so don't think I'm being a smart a** please... :eek:

A GFP is one which has been genetically modified in some way, such as colour.

It is up to you. Some people think that wildies are more inquisitive and active, and leucistic's are apparently more shy.

in that case ill just get one wild gfp and the others normal.

GFP= Green flourescent protein,

basicly it glows green under a bluelight. This is beacuse there proteins glow greeny (simple terms ofc)

They are basicly albino's but in certain lights they have a yellowish/greenish tint.

I wouldnt say they are more vulnerable, the axolotl gene pool is so messed up anyway.

To correct Aaran, GFP axolotls can be any color, not just albino. The greenish tinge is more visible on albino and leucistic specimens.

i know wat gfps are i was just wondering if they would get streess out more or somethin lol

Cheers kaysie, i was half asleep :) i wouldnt say it would effect them, basicly there protein (muscle tissue) has like an additive or something :D

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
