My axolotl got some fungus on her gill like a big fluffy white growth, she was really ill and thought i was going to loose her.

Heard about putting them in fridges and salt baths but i didnt want to put her under any more stress than she was in.

So i added salt to the water didnt feed her at all and added methylene blue at the lowest dose. To do this water quality must be at its best!

Couple of days later the growth fell off and i siphoned it up did water changes to the tank till all salt and medication would have gone.

Dyed the growth blue and the sand and plants but cured my AXIE :D sand and plants can be washed and back to normal, a dead axie cant!

So please try this if you dont want to stress them out it really helped me and was the nicest treatment posssible if you need any more details please let me know !

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
