Just found two four toed salamanders, drying out under a tree ring in by backyard. I am very familiar with red-backs, and they are certainly not them. We seem to be going through a bit of a drought, undoubtedly a heat wave, so I've been doing a fair few rescues lately, and seeing a number I was too late to save. One's lost its tail recently, but its growing back.

I was very excited to find these two, most accounts I read say they tend to be uncommon. So thus far thats three of the five ns caudates I've come across, now I just need a red eft, and a blue-spotted.

I'll let these guys go when we finally get some more reasonable weather, or the swamps behind my house get swampy again, whatever comes first. Anyone have advice on taking care of them in the meantime?

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
