Question: Is there a reason my axi is RED?

i just bought a new axi named it hungry and ive been feeding it blood worms and im wondering if its a sickness or just the amount of blood in the blood worms?

When your axolotl is active (or in warmer waters), they tend to 'blush' red. She is fine, give her time, and she will return to 'normal'.

Congrats on Hungry by the way, she is lovely. :happy:

yes she is very cute! this red "flush" actually happens to all axolotls, you can just notice it the white ones more because they have such pale skin.

yes she is very active and the water is around 16 degrees so it nice and cold and yes she is very nice thanks for the info and the compliments i and she probably would to if she could speek thanks again

She looks EXACTLY like my Axie 'Red' lol.. His tail is red too and his gills.. We have the rare-ish 'white' axies that are actually white not the common pink that is called white, therefore the red 'flush' as yellowpebble called it, is more noticeable. :) Cute aren't they? My 'Red' sometimes even looks yellow.. so cute!

Does yours have black eyes (Leucistic) or red (albino)? I cant tell from the pic.. :)

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
