My axolotl is around 3" long and I want to get some ghost shrimp for him. Is he too small for them? My biggest concern is if he tried to eat one, but they were too big for him and he choked.
Thanks so much!

make sure you quarantine the ghost shrimp first if you do get them. I don't think there would be too many choking problems, the only thing i would be concerned about is gill biting from the shrimp, but ghost shrimp aren't usually too aggressive.

they will happily scavenge on the bottom of the tank for fish food and blood worms and algae disks... they eat anything really.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
