Hello, My female golden axie is not quite right. Firsly i thought she was laying eggs as it looked like white eggs stuck in her bum but they dissapeared over night and nothing now is there. She loves her worms but not been taking them for 3 days now which is odd, plus here gills have decresed in size about half which has happened over 2 nights. My male is toatally fine and is the same. Can anyone help i would be so upset if she died :(

Can you give us some infomation that can help us work out what's going on?

Substrate:
Ammonia:
Nitrate:
Nitrite:
Tempreture:
Tank Size:

Tank size is 3ft by 1 the temp is 19 celcius. I have no idea how to test for the rest as the pet shop did that when i got them and said the filter should maintain all the levels. Looking closly she has fungal infection i think her gills look like cotton wool so im going to do the salt bath tutorial and give the tank an entire 100 per cent clean and get a testing kit from pet shop if they have them!! No one seems to be able to help round my area all pet shops are usless in the uk!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
