My name is Sven, I'm from Belgium and live close to Bruges. About a year ago I started keeping a Spanish ribbed newt, a few months later a wildtype axolotl followed, after that I bought a leucistic axolotl and about two weeks ago I bought a tigersalamander (next to that I also have two yellow eared sliders). I'm just fascinated by these guys so I registered and hope to learn more about them.

Welcome to the forum Sven:happy:

I've heard of red eared sliders and yellow bellied sliders but yellow eared sliders are a new one on me;) do you have any pics?

They are trachemys scripta troosti, I thought "yellow eared slider" was the right English name.
They look the same as red eared sliders only they have yellow "ears".

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
