Hopefully there is someone out there that can help this little girl/boy.

I was in the Cannon Hill PetBarn yesterday where I spotted a gorgeous little axie about 10cm long with absolutley NO gills :( and kept on small gravel, and no hides . After speaking with the attendant they had not had her/him long, and I pointed out that they should be kept on a bare floor and the reasons for this.

I would've taken this beautiful little creature home with me straight away but my Abraham is a known nipper and don't want to cause this little one any more grief.

Hopefully someone out there will be able to give this little one a reason to smile. It looked so sad.

This sort of stuff upsets me. I have a run in with a pet shop with the same name but different suburb on the weekend as well. I said I would never shop there again. I have plenty of room in my tank but I dont have the cash to buy him/her. Grrrrrr

Saw the same thing at a different store :(...current was far too strong, small gills, and almost positive the other fish in there were not appropriate for him.

That is really sad :(

The Axies in the pet shops close to me all seem pretty happy. It breaks my heart to think that they can be so mistreated.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
