fridging tends to fix constipation, just be careful that you fridge enough water at the same time to use for a waterchange.

Would you stop feeding it aswell due to its reduced metabolic rate? I dont know ive never had to fridge an axolotl.

i've never fridged one either. Honestly you think you should stop feeding axolotls, because you're not supposed to feed goldfish in the winter in ponds due to their metabolism slowing down. However, I've read tons of threads where people feed their axolotl while they're in the fridge, so maybe a slower metabolism doesn't influence axolotl ability to digest food? I don't know either

I can understand feeding a fridged axolotl(small amounts of food)if its in there for fungus/injury, with constipation would it only be adding to the problem? I hope someone can answer that.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
