Hi everyone newbie here to the world of axlotols an breeding just had some eggs hatch have really no idea on wat to do so reading wat i can about them any advice would be appreciated :)

Hi,

I have not had them from eggs so the only advise I can give is to keep on reading the forum!

Has been a massive help for me as I'm sure it will to you.

Congratulations on the new additions to your family. I imagine the important thing will be to get them onto a good food. I only really have experience with fire belly newts, but it is probably similar. Depending on the size of the larva you could try either baby brine shrimp or white worms to start them off.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
