Hi all,
just wanted to share this silly pic of my 7 month old axie perching in the plants. and was wondering if anyone else's do this? (i'm new to keeping axies)
I guess as they get bigger and heavier they won't be able to do it anymore...wish they could tho :bowl:

I'm convinced that Lance (my albino) is some kind of underwater monkey hybrid! He spends more time in plants then on the ground!!!!

Mine just float around and pretend they are sea monkeys, then they swim into the glass and realise they are being silly....LOL

I have one on the bottom and one that floats on top
they take a gulp of air so they can float

Frangipane thinks she's a bird.
Xotl is thinking: "What the... Get out of my plant!" (Xotl likes to put his head in it from above and then he tries to dig himself into the plant... Doesn't really work)

Yes! Kitty does. She clings vertically onto plants- actually maybe she thinks she's a koala? Whatever she is, she's a weird one. <3

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
