Hey there,

I was wondering.
Everyone tells me worms are the best way to go with your axolotl.
And you can dig them up yourself in untreated non-poisoned ground.

Maybe this sounds silly, but I assume then we are talking about what they call rainworms? :p
Sometimes with a slightly blue headpart.

And also,
Would other worms be a good form of food for axolotl?
I mean things like Morioworms, Buffaloworms, Mealworms?

Might be a stupid question but I rather ask then try :p

Thanks

Earthworms serve as a really good meal. Doesn't matter if it's Lumbricus terrestris or Dendrobaena Veneta. Morio and buffelo can serve as a snack. Crush the head though, because I don't trust their jaws as long as they are alive. Same goes for dola's (Pachnoda marginata).

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
