Well basically I know the basics of it, and in fact 2 of my axolotls are in there right now (seperate tubs, clean water) and the lights covered to stop stress ect. They are shedding their skin and to avoid infections and fungus I decided to fridge. The water was right when I tested it today but we had cleaned them out last night and re-arranged the tank a little bit. I think they may have got a little stressed when we cleaned them out but yeah I know how to fridge and stuff so heres my two questions I'm unsure about:

1. Should we feed them whilst theyre sick? Most axolotls wont eat in the cold anyway but these two have big appetites so if they want to eat should I feed them?

2. How long abouts should they be in the fridge for? Just until the shedding stops??

I'm re-cleaning the tank and changing the water again today for whenever they get to go back into it.
Thanks guys
Nick

Offer food, but don't be surprised if they don't eat. Don't leave food sitting in the hospital tub for too long.

Fridge them for as long as needed. Usually we recommend to keep them fridged for ~2 days after the last signs of illness.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
