Hi everyone, please could someone help me? I have 2 wild type axolotls. One is perfectly fine and healthy, and the other one has this awful White stuff all down the top of it's back, on where you'd imagine it's spine to be. It started with a very small spot and it's becoming increasingly worse. Water conditions are all fine I'm just really worried :( !!!! It almost looks as though it's skin is coming off. I will try and upload pics but my
Computers pretty rubbish and not sure if I can do it from my phone! If anyone else has experienced this or anyone can help please let me know! Thank you

Is the white part fuzzy like cotton wool? If it is its fungus and had to be treated. Salt bathing or a sulfur based water medication is good for fungus.

Hi Rachel, yes it is. Thank you I will make sure I sort this out today for the poor little thing :( !

Thanks again!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
