Im currently at school and i get a text message from my brother saying something is wrong with the newts down stairs. Those newts are my P. Waltl there is 4 in my 40 gallon tank so i call my brother to see what happend and he says they are fighting and I said explain what they are doing he gave me the description of Amplexus. Now my question is how long before eggs are laid my tank is heavily planted and i plan on letting them grow with the adults. It must be the weather change because my female Fire belly is laying eggs again too and this time im going to try raising them in a fully aquatic set up that is heavily planted because my others died months ago on land.

If they were "successful" :p then you won't be waiting long...maybe 2-3 weeks. Mine lay eggs all the time now...it's a full time job removing eggs and raising larvae it seems! The eggs hatch FAST ....7-10 days and you have larvae emerging. I had eggs within 1 month of first witnessing amplexus :D

O wow that quick thank you for the information

"They're fighting! They're fighting! Oh wait.... they're not fighting."

Heehee....

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
