Of my 3 cynops larvae that I recovered on Thursday, I came home from work tonight to find that two of them are floating/floating upside down. Is there anything I can do to help them? In the past, I've tried fridging my axolotl when it's had floating problems. Can I/should I try that with my cynops larvae as well? I'm worried that I'm going to lose the little guys.

Could be an air bubble. If so, it should pass within a day or two.

I think it's normal, all my larvae did it and they raised ok. I used to put some java moss and they were able to be attached during this period.

Mine did this, I could actually see the air bubble when I looked at its tummy. I lowered the water level so it would be more comfortable, and the next morning it was fine. It's not unusual for cynops larvae to get wind from time to time

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
