I have 2 Sharp Ribbed Newts and an Asian Green Backed Frog....I knew nothing about them 2 years ago when I bought them. My husband had made me a beautiful aquarium out of a recycled 8 gallon glass vase....I needed to put something in it. Now, I'm an avid amphibian fan! Just ordered a 29 gallon tank since they've all gotten so big. Mine have been living in a narrow, deep vase and thrived! We've had a few adventures with them....one became a dust bunny in mid winter when he escaped before I had a proper top. Took hi 2 weeks to recover!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
